In the days that followed my dad’s death, I found it curious as to when tears came and when they did not. In the mix of family and friends, community supported me, and I was buoyed by their strength and love. Tears usually came when I was alone, and especially when I was tired. They were a release. Here is an untraditional symbol of Advent that burst its way into my rainy day. But I think it can hold its own. In the South of France, dolphins were a symbol for the King. The dolphins are back. Or maybe it is I. It is hard to know who is the constant. Some days they are there. And somedays, not.
